NMR as a tool in complex biological systems. Development and application of NMR spectroscopy to metabolomic studies, and to the study of molecular structure and dynamics in chemistry, molecular biology, and nanotechnology. Exploration of metabolomic responses of a wide variety of systems. Determination of high-resolution three-dimensional structures and dynamics on various timescales for biological macromolecules, drugs, organic compounds using liquid- and solid-state NMR, with focus on insoluble systems such as fibrillating proteins, membrane proteins. Major areas include coupling of metabolomic responses to different stimuli and other omic responses; coupling of protein dynamics and structure and their response to interactions with ions, other proteins, membranes, etc, with a special focus on protein folding and misfolding.
